Mr. Miro’s professional background, including his experience in running hedge funds in the City and his involvement in manufacturing and outsourcing operations in Manila, uniquely positions him to bring valuable expertise to the PBBC. His frequent visits to Manila further enhance his understanding of the local business landscape and contribute to his effectiveness in driving bilateral collaborations.
Mr. Beckingham stated, “Joe Miro is such an admirable successor and he has loads of experience in business in the Philippines and loads of experience in business. I am sure he will lead the Council into new and interesting areas.”
The transition of leadership from Mr. Beckingham to Mr. Miro was met with enthusiasm from the PBBC members. Mr. Beckingham and former Philippine Ambassador Paul NC Dimond and Vice-Chair, Rowena Romulo expressed their confidence that Mr. Miro’s experience, knowledge, and energy will significantly contribute to the council’s growth and success.
As Mr. Miro assumes the role of Chairman, the PBBC enters a new chapter of its journey to strengthen trade and investment ties between the Philippines and the United Kingdom. His appointment, alongside distinguished ambassadors’ and envoys’ support and involvement, sets the stage for increased collaboration and mutual prosperity.
The PBBC and its members eagerly anticipate the positive impact that Mr. Miro’s leadership will have on advancing the council’s objectives and furthering the U.K.-Philippine relationship. It envisages that the PBBC will be taking UK firms interested in the Philippines to Manila in the second week of November.
